The rule, in plain language
A few loanwords ending in -o are neuter (das), like das Auto, das Video, and das Foto. But this is a rare, unreliable pattern - it covers only 0.9% of the course's frequent nouns, just 22 words. Many other -o words have a different gender: der Euro, der Zoo, der Logo, and der Dino are masculine, while die Demo is feminine. The safest approach is to learn each -o word individually, especially the common ones.
